Vote Your Conscience!

November 6th, 2012 by Admin | No Comments | Filed in Inspirational Stuff

Although the Constitution of the United States of America grants citizens who meet specific provisions, such as age, the right to vote, we uphold and keep that right only by exercising it. A country is a collective of individuals. The right to vote is the muscular structure.

It is use it or lose it. A democracy where no one votes, or where the is only one official way a person is allowed to vote is a dictatorship.
There always are and always will be people in every country who want more power, and will use whatever means, including dishonesty, fraud, bribery and bullying, both verbal and physical to gain unmerited power over others. In a democracy, it is not just up to the government to stop this unacceptable behavior, it is up to the citizens to elect government representatives who will act upon the wishes of their constituency, which means the people who elect them.
On this election day, I urge you to vote your conscience, not your personal interests. While it may seem that I am promoting one candidate over another by that statement, I always make that statement, and vote that way. Most importantly I urge you to vote that way, independently in all primaries and for every single elected position, whether it is for national, state, city or village representatives.  I vote for the person, not the party.

I also vote for the most honest politicians. The ones most likely to tell me the truth — based on their past performance. I have even voted for candidates I basically disagreed with, because the candidates who had the platform I approved of, wre liars, and I figured at least I would know what I was getting. Also, look at the person’s record. Not promises, but what in life they have actually done to help the USA via any offices or volunteer activities. Is the person who is running going
to help their cronies and pals (based upon their record) or will they work to help all citizens?

Abortion vs. Thou Shalt Not Steal and Corruption

The USA (home of my citizenship) is one of the most religious countries on earth and certainly one of the most Christian, plus it has the largest Jewish population outside of Israel.  While principles of fairness and equality are also mentioned and a strong part of other religions, it is  a great issue, and commanded many times in the Bible, including in the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20).  Fair weights and measures, paying honest wages, taking care of the poor and needy, treating others with respect are commanded again and again in both testaments.  While I am personally against abortion and have advised womenn who sought my help against taking such a step, the fact is that abortion is not specifically mentioned anywhere in the Bible, in either testament. And, for sure, they knew how to abort a fetus at least in the time of Jesus since they knew how to deliver a baby via C-setion. Julius Caesar was delivers this way. Early stage abortion,
where the infant cannot yet breathe on its own (or cannot be saved by a neonatal unit in our times) is not infanticide, and hence not murder according to the Bible. The only commandment that possibly pertains to abortion is the one in Genesis where Adam and Eve are instructed to “Be fruitfukl and multiply”. Anyone who tries to tell you that the USA is recieving the wrath of the Lord based upon Roe v. Wade does not know the Bible or is outright lying to you. [And, again, I am staunchly personally against abortion except where the mother’s life is endangered, and will always counsel against it for many reasons.]

However, again what is mentioned in the Bible, again and again, especially if one wants material blessings, is honest dealings and giving to the poor and needy. I believe that powerful interests, monied and big business interests (but certainly not all big businesses!) are promoting and profiting from the abortion issue. It takes voters’ attention away from making the USA the an honest, upright, fair dealing and generous country, a nation of laws that are equal for all.  Focusing our attention on women’s  bodies and not on being a nation of honest dealings is good business for certain important interests that is strongly promoted by lobbyists and corrupt interests to divert and mislead those who truly seek to do what is right.

There is one commandment about murder and two (2!)about stealing and coveting (which leads to schemes to defraud and ill gotten gain). Leviticus is filled with many stern and specific commandments and warnings about stealing, fraud, treating one’sservants (employees) fairly, fair weights and measures, telling the truth, etc., plus of course, charity and kindness. In the New Testament beatitude in Matthew 5:6, sums this up, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

So vote  and vote your conscience. Be filled.
